“David's facilitation was gentle, inviting, calming and clear.”

- Bishop Susan Goff, Former Ecclesiastical Authority of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia

“David is passionate about the healing of the heart and soul. That passion is evident in everything he does and in every interaction he has. He is a gifted connector of people—to each other, to themselves, and to the Divine. The retreats he led for our parish were transformative for those who participated. He helped move people along in their journeys of finding wholeness. It is an honor to have him as a colleague and a friend.”

- Noelle York-Simmons, Rector, Christ Episcopal Church, Alexandria, VA

I am so glad I was asked to lead a day long workshop at Richmond Hill Retreat Center called Overcoming Spiritual Trauma.

I co-facilitated with Laurie Wevers.

What a healing and transformational day!

Spiritual Formation

In a retreat setting or with individuals, David shows clients how spiritual awareness and practices can enhance their lives.

“David has a gentle, safe way of including everyone and keeping us on track at the same time.”

  - Rita, Holy Comforter Episcopal Church, Vienna, VA

David’s calling is holding space for transformational change. His formal training as a spiritual director includes a year-long course at Washington National Cathedral. He is also a graduate of Richmond Hill’s RUAH two-year spiritual direction program. David is skilled in creating a program to meet the specific needs of individuals and faith communities. Since high school, David has participated in in trainer training.

Among the workshops David has presented . . .

The Way of Love: An interactive exploration of Presiding Bishop Michael Curry’s Rule of Life. Can be held has a weekly or one day experience.

Lost and Found: Using silence, readings, lectio divina and small group interaction, participants discover what has been lost in the past several years and what has been found. It is designed as a five-hour workshop of self-examination, hope, and renewal.

Spiritual Practices for Everyday Life: Participants explore meditation, silence, the Examen, and other practices designed to bolster the inner life.

Claiming the Sacred Masculine: Masculinity in our culture is generally aggressive and without feeling.  This workshop is designed to help men explore what it means to embrace the sacred masculine. What does it mean to be a Monk Warrior?  In this workshop men will explore how shame and fear of vulnerability rob men of an inner sense of worth. Archetypes of the sacred masculine are used to support a more complete and holy concept of the masculine.

David also offers individual spiritual direction to help folks explore where God is showing up in their lives and to strengthen spiritual practice.
