Trauma Services

EMDR and gestalt therapy can offer deep healing and remove obstacles to becoming your fullest self.

Our society is experiencing deep trauma. We are living with the impact of failing institutions, social unrest, systemic racism, COVID-related displacement, and an unprecedented amount of physical, sexual, and emotional violence. Trauma is held in our bodies. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is one method to treat trauma and release its destructive impact. EMDR often helps translate knowledge about trauma into the body's acceptance that the trauma is over. Using EMDR, David has been able to eliminate disturbing nightmares, startle responses, and other symptoms of PTSD.

“David's specialized focus is evident in every session where he creates a safe and nonjudgmental space where I felt comfortable exploring my experiences. I wholeheartedly recommend David to anyone seeking help with PTSD or any other mental health challenge. His expertise, empathy, and unwavering commitment make him an exceptional therapist who truly makes a difference in the lives of those he serves.”

Get the help you deserve…

Knowing that each journey to healing is different, I have been dedicated and privileged to have a variety of professional training and experience that we can apply to your concerns.

  • I am trained in gestalt therapy, through which clients explore deep healing to remove obstacles from the past that stand between them and their fullest potential.

  • I have training and experience in EMDR, which helps reprocess traumatic memories. Clients have experienced remarkable relief from traumatic memories stemming from abuse and trauma.

  • As part of the Headstrong network of trauma-informed clinical partners, I offer confidential, barrier-free, and stigma-free PTSD treatment to our veterans, service members, and family connected to their care. (Follow this link if you’d like to learn more about Headstrong.)

  • I have years of experience with twelve-step, addiction, and recovery work.

  • I have a large gay clientele.

  • Though I value and work with clients who follow a variety of religions (or none), a significant percentage of my clients are clergy, seminarians, or workers in not-for-profit organizations.

“David has helped me process and overcome multiple traumatic events in my life that I never thought I could overcome. His use of EMDR has been an absolute blessing and has forever changed my life.”

-David Hoover-
Clinical Social Worker/Therapist, LCSW, MDiv

I’ve dedicated my life to helping people overcome obstacles—past and present—that interfere with life today. I am especially good at incorporating spiritual healing into my practice. I understand that anxiety and depression are often the result of habitual negative self talk. I can help people focus on ways to manage depression, anxiety and sexual compulsions.
